Wolfgang in China

As previously noted, my portrait of Wolfgang, the Chinese Crested, has been accepted into the PPA Loan Collection.

Scott Kurkian, CFO of Professional Photographers of America, was in China a few months back and sent me this image, showing Wolfgang on display in Beijing. The Chinese Crested returns to the homeland!

If anyone reads Mandarin, would you please confirm that the text under my name says "Parker Smith" and not "Doofus Head?"

Dickens

“Oh, now all common things become uncommon and enchanted to me. All lamps are wonderful; all rings are talismans.”

Greece and Dog Shows still up

The dog portraits and ephemera show is still up at San Francisco Coffee House in Virginia-Highlands, through the end of the month, and the Greece Artist Workshop show is ongoing through Jan 2009 at Briarcliff Frame Shop.

Run by and check 'em out, yo!

Light Blogging

Apologies for the light blogging this month; we have been absolutely slammed with portraits at the studio.

As they say, the fur has been flying. Last Sunday, the 14th, we did a special dog day for our friends over at Highland Pet Supply, and photographed 23 dogs. In one day. Several commercial projects as well. I cannot believe it's almost Christmas!

Tons of new portraits of beautiful babies and kids and families; it's really been a great month. I'll try to post a bunch of images when I get a chance.

Hope everyone is having a very Merry Christmas and/or a Happy Hannukah.

Flashes of Hope in People Magazine

The long-awaited story on Flashes of Hope has finally made the news stand in the December 22, 2008 issue of People Magazine (with Tom Cruise's incandescent smile on the cover).

The story and photo-spread are both very well done, showcasing an impressive overview of work from the many talented photographers around the States who donate their time to Flashes of Hope. My portrait of Imani was chosen from the Atlanta branch.

Be sure to check it out!

Work with Nicholas Kniel

Nicholas Kniel and I spent the day working in a spectacularly renovated Victorian mansion at the edge of Grant Park. We are working on Nick's next book, which will be about decorating for Christmas. It was a perfect setting for Nick's designs.

If you were on Nick's Christmas list, it might look something like this:

Many thanks to the Briarcliff Frame Shop for hosting the Art and Photography show from the Greece Workshop. We had a ton of people attend the opening.

Guy sold one framed photograph, and Mary sold three! Wow! The whole show looks terrific, and I hope you will stop by and check it out.

Through January, 2009
Briarcliff Frame Shop is located at 2187 Briarcliff Road NE, just down from the intersection of LaVista and Briarcliff.
